Sort of a spinoff list from the gambling films list, had to write this one too. Movie's where the entire film's premise is based on a bet or a bet plays a big role. Lots of fun stuff here:
1. TWO-LANE BLACKTOP(1971; Monte Hellman)
2. CADDYSHACK(1980; Harold Ramis)
3. DINER(1982; Barry Levinson)
4. RUGGLES OF RED GAP (1935; Leo McCarey)
5. SWING TIME(1936; George Stevens)
6. LITTLE DARLINGS(1980; Ronald F. Maxwell)
7. SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT(1977; Hal Needham)
8. VANISHING POINT(1971; Richard C. Sarafian)
9. CAT'S EYE(1985; Lewis Teague)
10. THE GUMBALL RALLY(1976; Charles Bail)
11. TRADING PLACES(1983; John Landis)
12. DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS(1988; Frank Oz)
13. LET IT RIDE(1989; Joe Pytka)
14. FRATERNITY VACATION(1985; James Frawley)
15. RHINESTONE(1984; Bob Clark)
Honorable Mention: WERNER HERZOG EATS HIS SHOE(1980; Les Blank)

I'm having trouble separating the last two lists, but the following deserve mention: My Little Chickadee, Queen of Spades (1949 version), Ruggles of red Gap, Support Your Local Sheriff! and Swing Time.
Steve-yeah sorry a bit confusing between the 2 lists.Great suggestions! I have to add RUGGLES and SWING TIME right now!!
Maybe TWO-LANE BLACKTOP?
What about SHE'S ALL THAT my friend. You can't beat the one-two punch that is Freddie Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard.
Good idea for a list, Rupert! And it's great to see you posting again. These lists must be a bitch to come up with.
Ned: TWO-LANE BLACKTOP is definitely a bet movie.
@Aaron,
I wasn't questioning whether TWO-LANE was a bet film--it would certainly be on MY "bet films" list.
Can't believe I forgot TWO LANE?! That's my nhumber 1, going on the list now...
Cameron-been a while since I've seen SHE'S ALL THAT, i know I like it way better than that Freddie Prinze Jr. movie where he tried to overdose on shampoo...
今天心情很好..你心情好嗎?..................................................................
Just remembered another good one: DIGGSTOWN. Can't believe I forgot all about this little boxing sleeper. Very entertaining.
Diggstown! One of my all-time favorite sleepers!
