My Favorite Creepy Stalker Movies

Just a quick list off the top of my head. The upcoming episode of the GGTMC covering THE COLLECTOR got me thinking about creepy films along those lines and I threw together a group of them that I like.

KING OF COMEDY(1982; Martin Scorsese)

THE COLLECTOR(1965; William Wyler)

PLAY MISTY FOR ME(1971; Clint Eastwood)

MY NAME IS JULIA ROSS(1945; Joseph H. Lewis)

DEATH PROOF(2007; Quentin Tarantino)

FADE TO BLACK(1980; Vernon Zimmerman)

SOMEONE'S WATCHING ME!(1978; John Carpenter)

TATTOO(1981; Bob Brooks)

DEAD OF WINTER(1987; Arthur Penn)

THE FAN(1981; Ed Bianchi)

SWIMFAN(2002; John Polson)

Not a movie, but check out the first episode of the first season of Thriller - Leslie Nielsen is being stalked by a very delusional Natalie Trundy who in turn is being stalked by spoiled, pretty boy George Grizzard. It's the only time I've ever seen a chain stalking.

Ooooh, King of Comedy is a grossly underrated film....
One of Scorsese's best, if you ask me. That, and Bringing out the Dead, deserve a lot more attention.

Nice to sere Fade to Black in there, now theres a movie all movie buffs can relate to! I'd add Robin Williams character in One Hour Photo, he got creepy on that one!

Nice list, man. I agree with FC, great to see FADE TO BLACK get a shot-out. PLAY MISTY FOR ME is quite possibly one of the best "crazy bitch" movies out there. Now THAT's a list I'd like to see you do!

Great list!

I had never heard of Julia Ross, but I have really loved every Lewis move I've seen thus far, so I want to track it down.

SHIFTY-I Still need to dive into Thriller. Excited to do it before it gets booted from Instant. Thanks for the rec! Any other Thriller eps you like, let me know!

ANDREW-As you might guess I am a BIG BIG KING OF COMEDY fan. It is my favorite Scorsese film for sure. Followed closely by AFTER HOURS and TAXI DRIVER. BRINGING OUT THE DEAD is good too and certainly overlooked.

THE_FC-Yeah FADE TO BLACK is totally a movie buffs horror film and one that gets overlooked a lot. Good performance by Dennis Christopher, who I am a big fan of. ONE HOUR PHOTO almost made my list. Williams is uber creepy in that!

AARON-Yeah so funny Jessica Walter will always be remembered from Arrested Development and few people will remember her for MISTY. That list idea is a good one. I need to work on it.

SCOTT- JULIA ROSS is well worth your time if you're a Lewis fan. I love his films. Feel like watching THE BIG COMBO right now!

Great idea for a list, Rupert. That's a striking image from Fade To Black, I need to see that movie. Perhaps an inspiration for Robert Blake's character in Lost Highway?

Awesome list!

Nice to see SOMEONE'S WATCHING ME on there. That's a John Carpenter film that doesn't get the attention it deserves. Also, I second the previous comments on KING OF COMEDY. That movie gets better every time I see it.

And here's hoping TATTOO gets a region 1 release sometime soon.
