Film Discoveries Series Wrap Up

47 Days and 38 Lists later, another year of the 'Favorite Older Films Seen 1st.." series has come to a close. I have said this many times throughout, but I really can't properly express my gratitude to all the contributors and supporters of the series. I just discovered this project via Kim Morgan's site, and it's great to see that other people do this as well. I've put together a list each year for the last few years. Here's my list for 2011.

Great list Josh-I need to check out THE RICH ARE ALWAYS WITH US! Glad to hear this is already a regular list you make each year. This series has become one of my favorite things and a time of year I look forward to because of it. I am very grateful to Kim for doing her list and turning people onto the series!

What a great thing you do here! I just started following your blog in October I think, and you didn't make another post until the end of the year, then it was all these great lists.

I did this myself this year after getting the idea somewhere else: http://www.retrohound.com/best-movies-that-i-watched-not-that-came-out-of-2011/ I'll be sure and mention you in next year's post.

Robert- Yeah things got a little hectic for me towards the end of the year so I only posted about once a month or so. Gonna try to be better about that this year if I can. Thanks so much for the kind words about the series! It's really blossomed a bit this year and I hope it continues strong into 2013. I know I am already keeping careful track of my favorite older films seen so far in 2012 via Letterboxd, so I will be raring to put out my list come years end. I may have to put out a midpoint of the year list even!
I dug your list sir! THE YAKUZA, great little film!

I was going to try to join the club, but my favorite older films list was only 4 or 5 films long. Found quite a few movies in these lists I need to see, so thanks for sharing!

How about a list of favorite romantic films for Valentine's Day? I may post my own today.

Steve- I did this guest post of my favorite underrated love stories last year:

I may update with some new choices next week. Curious to see yours.

Oh, your under-rated romantic films is unsurpassable (though how Col. Blimp could be underrated? underseen, undoubtedly). I put up my list today, with very little thought, but you do get to compare my last girlfriend to Kristin Scott Thomas! If I can find my 2011 fave list, I'll let you know.

Steve-I guess I sometimes cross underrated with underseen. I am posting your Romantic films list here too:

Cool list! CROSSING DELANCEY is a great little film that doesn't get much press. I like it too.

Crossing Delancy is a fantastic film! My wife and I love it. In fact, I'm doing a 50 Greatest Movies (very slowly) and that's going to be one of them.
