My Favorite Joe Dante Films

Another quick list, this one dedicated to not only one of my favorite directors(who is very kind and gracious in person), but also one of my favorite cinephiles. Joe Dante is a towering metropolis of cinematic knowledge. If you ever get the chance I recommend seeing him introduce a film as it is always a treat. In the meantime, watch ALL of his Trailers From Hell entries. All worthwhile, as are all of his wonderful films. See my list below.

P.S. - Here's an interview I did with Mr. Dante for the GGTMC podcast a while back:

Great list.
I always forget just how many of Dante's films i love.
So glad to see The Hole on thins list - it's treatment for the North American market (ie not putting it out) confuses and irritates me.
Such a great kids/teen summer flick. It'd make a great double bill with something like Insidious for the younger PG-13 crowd 7 hell it even had 3-D!

I also need to track downa copy of Matinee. I was eyeballing that French bluray, but it's a bit dear for a blind buy.

Yeah I too was bummed by the North American treatment of THE HOLE. I plan to pick up an import blu of it at some point if need be. The MATINEE blu, though pricey is well worth it.

Killer list! Piranha is a classic. Also Small Soldiers had some good moments too.
